Steering was getting a bit stiff, steering wheel hard to turn sometimes so thought to check the power steering fluid, level was good but color was more brown than red.

Looked around for a good Dexron iii ATF equivalent and found that Mobil 1 has a synthetic offering at the local parts store.

Mobil 1™ Synthetic ATF | Automatic Transmission Fluid |Mobil™ Canada

Jacked front wheels off the ground and did the 'turkey baster' type removal and replacement, turned wheels lock to lock and removed old PS fluid with a MixMizer syringe and a 50 cm length of clear tubing several times and then added oil until color in PS fluid reservoir stayed bright red, took 2 liters until I got it looking like new.

Surprised that the a change of PS fluid would improve steering wheel responsiveness substantially.

Good to know. My steering is suffering like yours was. I have some Toyota Dex3 fluid on the way, I'll be changing mine out too.
