Son is looking at a 2002 L that the dealer is asking $6500 for. It's a good looking car. No body issues at all, good service history and it only has 93K on it. Still seems a little high though. Thoughts?

The RAV4 holds it's resale value more than other vehicles. I've seen '98's and '99's sell for that price. Plus it's the Limited model which has all the options. If it's in good shape, it's worth it.

Suggest checking the usual sources for vehicle history (Carfax, etc.). They don't always have all of the relevant info but normally do. Also suggest checking online for asking prices for similar RAVs to determine whether the asking price for the one your son is considering is reasonable. In view of the mileage and condition, it and the price would seem to be reasonable and he might be able to bargain the price down somewhat.

Thanks for the input guys. We managed to talk them down a little and get it for 6.5K out the door with TTL included.
The Carfax was very clean, and showed a service history for the the past 15 years at a local dealer. It was a one owner car and she appears to have taken good care of it. The car itself is almost pristine. The paint probably looks a good as my 2011 Rav. Interior is immaculate for a 15 year old car.

So we are now a 2 Rav family.
