Hey,

I plan to trade my 01 Celica in when I purchase my Rav. I had a question though regarding the title. I paid off the car and I have the title in my posession, but my dad originally co-signed for me when I purchased. I have, obviously, been making all of the payments and the title is in my name and address (but has his name as well).

Am I going to need him to be there to sign the title over to them when I trade in, or will my signature alone be sufficient?

Thanks for any help with this!

Sounds like your father's name is still listed on the title. Normally any and all names listed on the title need to sign over title at the time of sale. This could differ somewhat according to your state's laws, etc. If you father's name does appear on the title, even if your name is also listed on the title, both have to sign over title. Same as husband and wife names both appearing on title, both have to sign overr. I just did this at CARMAX in Virginia. I had to drag my wife with me or have POA to sign for her. :(
