I have a 2008 Rav4 with 90k miles on it. Going through a quart or more every 1000 miles and getting slightly but noticeably worse every 3k mi oil change. The dealers around me all have terrible service departments so if something is going to be covered I'm going to have to fight for it. This seems like the newest thread on the subject: rav4world.com/forums/178-recall/246946-oil-consumption-test-recall-need-advice.html but I can't tell if I'm covered or not. I've heard the repair program ended 10/2016 but also that there's an extended warranty for 10yr/150k mi. So, can I push for the consumption test and get this taken care of after it fails or is it too late?

Call Toyota with your VIN number. They will be able to help you. You cant always trust the dealers to tell you the truth.

Toyota 's Consumer Help line (1-800-331-4331) and open up a Case



Limited Service Campaign (LSC) Remedy
Authorized Toyota dealerships are requested to replace the Engine Pistons at NO CHARGE to the
vehicle’s owner.

The Primary Coverage offers warranty enhancement until October 31, 2016 regardless of mileage.

The Secondary Coverage is applicable for 10 years from the (DOFU) Date Of First Use or 150,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

This is not a Recall, it is a warranty enhancement.

What should you do if you experience this condition?

Please contact you local Toyota Dealer for appropriate diagnosis and repair at no cost to you.

What if a customer has already paid for this repair?
