Hi,
I visited my dealer today because turning the wheel when not moving or at low speeds would cause a noise or an unusual feeling in the steering wheel (clunk).
I was told that my rack and pinion needed to be changed on my RAV4 2009 Limited 3.5 V6 (86000km); the cost: 2500$.
First of all, I am not sure this is the root cause of the problem since many have reported issues with the intermediate steering shaft.
Also, even it was the rack and pinion, I feel that this should not need to be replaced after 86000km. Am I the only one that feels the same?
We are going to replace the car in September. We would like to avoid this cost for now. Is this a security hazard?
What would you guys do? Any recommendation would be appreciated.
Thanks
Fred
