I was looking at a 2 door Rav4 on Craigslist and noticed it had the typical 4 door gray and black seats in the front. I asked the guy if he made that switch but he didn't get back to me. They never made that design of the seats like that for the 2 door, and the back seats look like what was suppose to be the original design. So I just was wondering if anyone could confirm if the front seats from a 4 door rav4 can fit into a 2 door rav4? I would like to do this, I couldn't add the link or pictures since it's my first post. I will try and add them if I am able.

Yikes - i just took delivery of that very Rav4!! Getting lots of surprises. The seats are from a different car!? Hah - and the originals in back “feel like sitting on mulch,” per my daughter. I guess I’ll have to either reupholster the rears or replace them from another 2-door, eh?

Is it possible to transfer the “scoot forward” mechanism of the front passenger seat in later models onto the 96 models? My 9yr old will be getting in and out multiple times per day, and it ain’t easy.

JSK,

The seats are from a 4 door rav4 which in my opinion are better than the 96 2 door seats that I currently have. There just a little bigger than the two door and feel a little more comfortable. Now the back seats on the other hand look terrible... I mean they are suppose to be a baby blue so I can imagine they are in horrible sitting shape. You will probably have to re pad and reupholster those unless you get lucky and find a 2 door at a salvage yard and even then they will not match the front seats.

When I bought my 1996 2 door the passenger seat slid back and forth so I'm assuming that someone must have changed that so it should be do able if you find a base at a junkyard. But my 1996 definitely has the slide feture just to confirm.

Thanks Derch!
My daughter is having a VERY difficult time threading her way through the front seat belt and in/out that narrow opening!
That rear fabric is weird: it’s intact, but feels like 100-grit sandpaper. The cushion-part is still fine as well - just very rough texture. No amount of cleaning will bring THAT seat-bottom back to Baby Blue!
...and i need to figure out what the factory did to place that seatbelt in a way that allows for easier entry/exit. I’ll post a photo later to explain.
