Amazing! You've taken the lowly RAV4 to heights its designers never dreamed of! You're lucky living where you do--I don't think a Caldina can even be legally registered here.

Lol thanks! Remember this thing has a 3.5" lift! And it's a RAV4! (With a bed and a kitchen in the back) lol. I get that you're joking, but I'll digress. I'm still learning to "Drive" but from the video, and the sound of the engine, its easy to forget this is a top heavy Rav, and not a Porsche! I've never had a fast car in my life, so I am learning, in a Rav4, go figure! It is foreign to accerate through corners, but its true, there is more control in low gear, pulling through corners, than high gear braking.

Sounds like only 8500 rpm to me, are you sure? :p
I have an angle grinder that spins at 10,000RPM the thought that there are parts in this engine that spin almost that fast is un ****ing believable! It takes 5W-20 Oil, seems thin. now I know why! I run 94 Octane in it, as the Gen4 ECU is actually tuned to 105 Octane (Japan) I ran that once. It was about 15% more horsepower, I also had no power steering pump attached to the engine at the time, and I have an AC Delete Kit. All I can say is that the 94 is enough, what will happen when I put my spare 3S-GTE in here after it's forged and boosted to 20lbs is beyond comprehension, I reckon that a gen 4 with forged rods, pistons, 3 angle valve job, port and polish with 20lbs boost will put out a conservative 450-500HP. Too much for the Rav's rear Diff in my opinion.

frankly, I may simply forego that and just stick to bone stock 3S-GTE gen4's from this day forward, as I dont plan to race them, but pound them through the canadian rockies at high RPM on cross country trips towing a small camper trailer.

This Winter I'll be putting Hakkapellita 8 Studded tires on it, and will be making some serious GoPro videos of the Rav4GTT carving ruts into frozen lakes in Northern Alberta. I really expect the Rav to take a beating this winter. Stay tuned for those videos, I hope to buy another GoPro or two, and have multiple camera angles of each scene.

I put these tires on my Wifes Caldina GTT AWD 5 spd, and that was before I had the Rav4 GTT Completed, I learned quickly that a Porsche is a complete and total waste of money. I can frankly drive the Caldina through off-road frozen trails and plow 3ft of snow with the front bumper. there are zero words for the handling and maneuverablility of the these tires. The Promo video is one of the coolest videos I've ever seen for a product, have a look!

I want a spare working and tested engine on a stand in my garage at all times so if a rod bends or something catastrophic happens I have another engine ready to go instantly. I'll fix the actual problem while the engine is on a stand, rather than in the bay. Hell, I'll drop an engine just to clean the frigging thing. Just the way I am.

C'mon, an X5 can lap Mid-Ohio faster then a Spec Miata... just takes throwing money at the problem.

Yet seriously, amazing job. Remember the first time the front pax seat was moved all the way forward... wow. 5.5'+ of space.

And most jealous over the swap. Amazing job. : )

Did you post that somewhere on Reddit? Which they had a better RAV presence there.
YES, I did, and I got flamed big time, and when I defended myself against their immaturity I was subsequently banned from r/Toyota. Lol. I closed my account, I dont need that Drama. I'll lurk instead.

NEVER be Jealous, I would watch "3s-GTE Porn" videos online every day for almost six years before I finally saw that engine in person.

Because MY Dream car is not a Ferrari, but a Rav4 3S-GTE, I accomplished my goal, and also have my dream car.

A Rav4 that can give a porsche or a vette a run for it's money is more fun in my opinion, especially when I can take it into the woods, on a rugged lake beach, down trails, or down main street and hardly get a second look from most folks is nothing to be jealous about.

As someone said to me when I was nervous about pulling an engine once, "they're just nuts and bolts, get turnin' em'"!

I hear you. I did one of the first (if not first) documented '88-'89 MR2 SC motor swap in to an '85-'89 MR2 NA body. The commonality of vehicle design for that generation was amazing. Helped with an MR2 NA to pre AE86, and turning the motor was a pain. So I hear ya...!

what the hell, that's ridiculous. Sorry to hear it. It's not like there's millions of interesting posts on /r/toyota. Most of it is "Hey, I bought a brand new Camry, upvotes please." That was probably the best content they've had in a month.

AWESOME! One of the most coolest transformation I've ever seen in this forum.
You, I like you.

Well Thanks dude, I'll try not to let it get to my head, as stated in the past, I'm grateful to have it. I never thought the day would come (finances). The fact its built and works is enough to make me want to put it away for safe keeping! Seriously, without Rav4World.com the Rav4 GTT may never have been conceived!

That's awesome! I recently transformed my 2008 as well, and am driving across country.

The Transformation

Life in the RV4
I've read the first paragraph, and my heart sank! I have a complete, and discrete under chassis 4" ABS Plumbing pipe and 12v pump based outdoor Shower, and onboard water dispensing, and rear door sink system designed, and planned for completion later on this winter! My Brand new radiators un-used on-board trans cooler will heat the shower and coffe/tea water as I drive!

Your sir, I like you! I cannot wait to read your blog! I will make Tea now, and prepare to enjoy it in the comfort of the coziest corner of my dwelling.

Another thing I have planned is a camping/survivalist heating system for the Rav4.

Using Two surplus ammunition boxes, a spare toyota heater core, some high temperature hose, and a very small propane burner, I plan to build a heating system, that will allow you to either set a small coil of copper into a campfire, or burn a small propane flame under it, and circulate coolant into a secondary heater core inside the Rav4 rear quarter panel.

This is something I want to build for my own comfort, and am looking very much forward to building in the next upcoming snowy Months.

Safe Travels! Kudos!
