Has anyone installed at 4200NEX in. RAV4 Hybrid?

I am concerned i will lose some of the telemetry data (fuel economy monitors, etc.).

Does anyone have any experience with this head unit? I ordered the unit with the Maestro interface to preserve steering wheel controls. I get the feeling it is still a year early as the tech hasn't been sorted out.

Let me know if you have or have seen a similar install. Thanks in advance.

You will loose the energy monitor and other things that are tied to the stock radio. But, you can view the battery status and mpg in your information gauge in your speedometer. Will you be able to keep the backup camera and incorporate it into the Pioneer?

Take pics after the install. Would like to see the final outcome.

Don't mind losing the stuff on the radio unit itself, I was more concerned with readouts on the speedometer - when I saw the Nav system passing all the info to the speedo, I was worried that the radio is actually passing ALL info to the speedo.

In terms of back up camera, yes, I can maintain that functionality by using the maestro system.

As soon as I upgrade, I will post detailed pics....might wait another couple weeks until I speak with Toyota or an installer that has done this before.

Hi, just out of curiosity what are the advantages of this system vs the stock Toyota system? (Probably a dumb question but I am interested)
Thanks

Fo me, being an apple household, tighter integration with he Apple ecosystem and I can use Waze and Escort Live (crowd fed navigation and Police notification system).

Bonuses include Siri eyes free, voice control, etc. the latter being less important b/c Siri hasn't really delivered on its potential yet.

And yes, I realize I can dash mount my iPhone and use these apps but I am a little nutty when it comes to external devices. I prefer an integrated look. First world problems, I know.

Thanks for the great explanation. Please keep us posted on this and provide pictures of the installation should that happen.
Thank you

WAZE is NOT available in carplay, at least not yet. I also don't think Escort Live is compatible yet. I've been considering it too, but Siri Eyes Free and voice control integration already exist on the stock entune system (just hold down the phone off the hook button on the steering wheel) so that's not a factor for me. My desire is just to have a bigger screen for navigation than my mounted iPhone.

As of now, however, Google Maps is not supported on Car Play and the system also requires a wired connection. The new version of Carplay will work entirely over bluetooth, so I may wait a bit before really considering it.

Actually, the new Pioneer NEX head units allow you to mirror just about any app on iOS to the screen (effectively letting you bypass Car Play per se). That being said a recent Waze update resulted in strange behaviors when mirroring so I take your point.

Bluetooth update sounds awesome but I actually like the wired connected for charging purposes.

Just a small update. I hear there are some minor changes coming to Car Play at WWDC (Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference). I have postponed my install until I see the announcement. For now, I have the Homelink and Escort radar direct wired and it is all good. More news shortly, WWDC is 6/13/16 I believe.

Non Hybrid Rav4

Hey Peeps, I'm getting the 4200NEX installed in a few days. I'll be posting pics for y'all to see but the idea is that with the maestro rr and TO1 all functionality of the stock unit should be retained as well as some added functionalities. we shall see....

Pioneer 4200NEX

Got the Pioneer 4200NEX installed. All functionalities from the original unit are preserved. Backup Cam, Steering wheel buttons, as well as some added functionalities. However this is only possible with the iDatalink Maestro RR. and the TO2 Harness (sold separately). It now displayed the PSI of each individual tire, as well as many gauges to measure all sorts of metrics on the car including the temperature of the exhaust gas lol.

Cheers,
Carlos

Oh and one annoying thing I always hated about the original unit.... The bluetooth audio always lagged behind a few seconds from the phone so it was impossible to watch a video from the phones speakers. This new unit fixes that lag!! can watch video flawlessly. love that apple carplay too
