Electrifying Development: Refreshed 2016 RAV4 Line Offers Toyota's Eighth Hybrid | Toyota

"Value Pricing
The manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) for the 2016 RAV4 gas models will range from $24,350 for the LE 2WD to $32,910 for the AWD Limited.

The MSRP for the 2016 RAV4 Hybrid will be $28,370 for the AWD XLE and $33,610 for the AWD Limited."

:surprise:surprise:surprise

20 hp increase, over 20% more efficient for $700?! That is flat out fantastic assuming they are similarly equipped.

If this holds true it puts the Hybrid RAV4 back in play for me. I would possibly get rid of my Prius and RAV4; essentially combining them into this.
The MPGs are a little disappointing, I was hoping for low 30s.
The other variable is I REALLY like the V6 in my RAV4 and....... the Hybrid RAV4 doesn't come in Barcelona Red Metallic.

The same holds true for the XLE AWD where the hybrid is only $700 more based on msrp. $27,670 vs $28,370. But something tells me the dealers will be discounting the gas models more than the hybrids.
Yeah, I doubt they will build enough Rav hybrids to be discounted the same. But still, that is a lot better than a $3k premium and the dealer not discounting.

It does 34 city, 31hwy, 33 combined. Considering I get the combined number in my 2014 Rav, I would expect similar in the hybrid.

Stopped at the Toyota dealer where I purchased my RAV last month to talk with the service rep, (some arse tried to get into the same lane I was in at the same time I was in it - thankfully I have dashcam video that will nail his hide to the wall).

Asked my sales guy about the hybrids and he said that they will be pretty scarce. That Toyota wanted to see what the demand for them will be before committing to full production. Each dealer will only get one or something like that. Me thinks that's a bunch of baloney.

As someone pointed out both here and on a Canadian forum, it seems the non-hybrid Limited AWD comes with the technology package that the hybrid Limited doesn't come with as standard.

In Canada, that means a difference of around $3,500 between the two if the tech package on the hybrid were selected to make in a fair comparison.

Yea, that is why I put that "comparably equipped" disclaimer. Do you have a link to where it shows the equipment levels for each trimline/model?

I have a question for someone on this. Is this website in US Dollars or Canadian? I compared the prices of the standard Rav4 and they were within a couple hundred of each other.(which is not really close to the current exchange rate of the 2)

Is it safe to say that the US price will be about the same as the price on the Canadian website? Even if the Canadian website is in Canadian dollars?

Hello RAVers!!! Long time... no see!!! lol

Toyota has been shipping 2016 models all this past week out of their Portland, Oregon dock facility. Rumored that the first HYBRID models were unloaded yesterday!! Will know more when I return to work tomorrow.

Who knows... I may actually become a "RAVMAN" again!! ;)

This comparo interests me the most:

2016 RAV4 Pricing

Gas Model Drive Transmission Grade MSRP
RAV4 AWD A/T XLE $27,670

Hybrid Model Drive Transmission Grade MSRP
RAV4 AWD CVT XLE $28,370

The hybrid has my interest, but I likely won't be an early adopter--but glad to see such a small price difference.

My 09 RAV 4-banger gets 25 mpg overall, if the the hybrid gets 33 mpg, that means about 100-gallons difference per year (considering 10k-miles per year). It's not the only factor, but the meager $700 differential probably pays off in only 3 years or so. And once the inevitable gas price gouge returns, will be even better to be in a hybrid.

Will wait and see how the CVT plays out and if any improvements were made to smooth the ride and reduce cabin noise at least a little bit.

Looking at the vehicle ordering system, it appears that the US Rav4 Limited Hybrid is spec'd the same as the gas model. They both come standard with damn near everything except for the birds eye view.

So...did they arrive yet? I didn't know Portland has a Toyota Distribution center. I know there's a big Toyota Distribution center at the Port of Long Beach where the ships deliver the goodies.
