The fill plug on my 05 rear differential is blocked. My 10 mm hex won't fit in the plug because I'm prevented from getting the hex to go in straight. Is there a simple work around?

See picture (not mine) for obstruction in the way of the fill plug.

The mechanics I work with have been know to cut down a hex key with a saw or grinder in order to get into tight places. I think you can also buy a complete set of low profile wrenches.

Are you specifically referring to the differential on this car, or are you generally speaking?

I'm embarrassed to say that the component, which has the bolt that was in my way, rotates with the wheels.

So long as I position the car a bit, the protruding part with the bolt will be out of my way.
