I realize that I am old so cut me some slack on this one. I could never figure out why the Rav shut off when you opened the door after a remote start. Then yesterday it hit me out of the blue. I started my car with the remote from my garage. When I opened the door it shut off. It keeps you from driving off without the key!! I am so proud of myself. Ha Ha

Yes that's the way cars with push to start works with remote starts. everytime you open the door it shuts off

It works that way with keyed ignitions too.

It also serves as a theft deterrent when you think about it!
