There is a check engine light and I forget what the code is but it had to with the egr failing. My mechanic replaced the vsv valve and modulator but only "cleaned the EGR". I already bought the new valve but its so rusted that I can't unscrew it from the pipe at the base. I think I should replace the whole pipe as well since I cannot budge the damn egr off of it. Anyone know the easiest way to remove the pipe/tube from the manifold?

Welcome to the forums...

How much mileage is on your RAV4 ?
The EGR can get gunked up and clogged on the hole/port that goes to the intake manifold.
Do you know if the mechanic cleaned/cleared that port ?
How did he "clean" the EGR without removing it ?

From what I recall there are two nuts holding it in place to the intake manifold (There is also a gasket there that should be replaced).
There is a fitting that is screwed onto the lower portion of the EGR which can be loosened with channel lock pliers.

Removing the pipe would require extra work and would probably be unnecessary.

You may want to buy an OEM Toyota manual or a Haynes manual for reference/instructions.

Just my .02 cents.
