My wife has a 2012 Rav4. They were unable to reset the Maint. Req. light at the last oil change. I am very familiar with this and have been doing it on my Prius for 8 years. It will not reset. When I follow the proper procedure (while on trip A, hold the button in and press the power button), 5 dashes appear for an instant and then disappear and the trip A mileage reappears. For giggle and kicks, I have done it on the odometer setting and trip A. I only get the 5 dashes for an instant on trip A which leads me to believe that is the correct setting. Any ideas?

Set the odo/trip mileage in under the speedo to trip B
Turn the key to off
Hold the button down on the trip selector
Turn the key to acc
If you see the indicator go all zeroes and flash
It's reset
If not repeat
You don't have to start the engine

Hmmmm..... On the 2005, you set the odometer on the MILAGE setting, not trip A or B. Shut the ignition off. Push the reset button and hold it down, turn the ignition to acc or start. 5 - - - - - will appear and sequentially disappear to none. You will then see the car mileage and your MAINT REQ light will go off. Just did that yesterday after I changed the oil.....:)
