4cylinder Rav4, strange noise accelerating and decelerating around 40 mph. Lightly moist roads mist / fog. Sound lasts for 3 - 5 seconds each time. Dealer found nothing wrong. Issue happen one more time after leaving dealer. Toyo Open Country A20 Tires in good shape. Issue has not happened the last day or so. Any ideas? Is this just a Rav thing ?

This one has got people thinking I guess. As an owner of a Rav4 and a 4Runner I kind of have an idea how these systems work and how there is a huge difference. Any Rav4 gurus out there with any ideas. A few years ago I could swear that the Rav drive system broke into stange oscillations as well going up hill on a road with a very light snow covering. This has only happened once and never again. And then these new sounds happen ...

I have had a rumble strip sound at 1700 - 1800 rpm's no matter what speed or gear I'm in. I've had EVERYTHING checked for the past several years and my conclusion is exhaust drone. I have a 2011 Rav 4 4 cyl. Go to a custom exhaust shop and they may be able to help you.
