I guess that’s one way to temporarily black out a badge. Not my cup of tea though. Sharpies don’t go anywhere near my vehicles.

There’s also various “blackeners” available for hobbyists that may work. There’s stuff that train guys use to blacken copper track. There’s also stuff stained glass folks use to darken solder and copper edging.
