While poking around today, I noticed the top of my transmission was a bit greasy and traced it back to a leaking seal for the shifter shaft (not too clear, but I hope the pictures give a better idea what I mean). My trans fluid is full, so it's a slow leak, but I plan to do a drain and fill soon and I'd like to keep that liquid gold where it belongs.
Has anyone repaired this before without having to remove the trans? Looking at the parts diagram, the lever has to slide out and it's pretty long. Is there clearance for it to come out?
