Today I replaced my 4.1 Rav with a 4.2. So far I'm very pleased however, I have one issue. I have only ever driven two 4.2 Ravs and both have done this so I need to ascertain if this is normal.

If the engine is running and I am stationary and I apply firm constant brake pressure eventually the brake pedal sinks to the floor. Having scoured the net it would appear that in some Toyotas (not specifically RAV4's) this is normal. Could someone please try this on their car and post the result.

With the engine off the brake pedal is firm and cannot be depressed to the floor irrespective of how hard you push. When driving the car the brakes work fine and the ABS operates normally.

My car is a manual 2004 XT3.

Thanks.
