Wife has 2022 XLE Premium with every bell and whistle thrown in. Car is three months old with about 800 miles driven (she does not go far). She just called and told me the thing just started upgrading/patching/updating software while driving. I cannot find anywhere this behavior is explained. Is this car connected to some satelite and does Toyota just upgrade/patch/update as needed without any control by the owner? Does anybody know?

I keep getting an update request for Entune each time I start up but I have to press accept or press cancel. It has not automatically started downloading.

I got an Entune Suite update message yesterday when I turned the vehicle on after sitting a few days.
Options were Later, Details, or Download. Download took seconds. This is probably what she saw.
My vehicle is a 2021 XLE w/ Audio Plus. The vehicle has a cell antenna in the unit. I do not think the updates are automatic.

Same here on '21 gas model XLE with standard audio and touchscreen. Does anyone know what exactly this update is supposed to do?
It updates the Entune part of the infotainment system which in my option is pretty much useless now. I updated mine yesterday and it prompted me to have the app running on my phone. I started the app but the apps in the infotainment system remained greyed out.

I always find it interesting that you can preform this update while driving but they restrict album art and genre searching while driving. Oh well, just another head scratcher.

So may or may not be related....

Yesterday I started up and drive off noting the infotainment screen just had loading... on it. This continued for the whole drive. 10 minutes.

Only a restart of the car returned it to normal.

Perhaps an update? Didn't get a choice to accept or reject.

After the upgrade I noticed that XM/Sirius channels are noticeably louder than regular FM stations. This was not the case before the update.
When you switch between sources, does the volume level (knob #) remain the same?

I had a volume issue when listening to say Netflix from a iPhone that's using bluetooth or usb cable. Had to crank radio up to almost max to hear it. Will check again, maybe the new update fixed that?

From my experience, the volume setting stays the same when switching sources. The setting that is saved independent to each source are the "tone" settings. These can have an affect on the perceived volume level.

For clarity, I mean the volume knob setting, does it stay, as example, at volume 15 when switching between sources, or does it appear to remember your last volume setting per source?

The changing volume level is no longer there. I'm not sure if it just needed a reboot or what. Now the volume level is the same whether I'm listening to FM or Sirius

Well, two days ago, had iphone on with cable (car play), then simply turned off radio with knob push, a sec later screen went black, ~10sec later a thin white vertical line appeared down middle of screen, ~5sec later the screen came back to split map.

So, maybe the update I got is bad, or, identified a bug, really the 1st time I ever did that sequence. Will need to try to repeat the steps to see if it's a ongoing issue, or was just a glitch.

I noticed phone volume is also active when using BT connection. Still kinda bewildering why actual phone volume setting is in BT, the audio level in BT should just be fixed to allow the receiving device to control actual volume.
