how would a staggered rim setup affect the rav4

like 18x7s in the front and 18x8s in the rear

First of all, if it's all wheel drive I wouldn't even think about it...
Second since the 2wd is front wheel drive I wouldn't mess with it either... leave all the rims the same size.... same with tire size as well...

Staggered rims are more for rear wheel drive cars and mainly sports cars....

i've seen staggered on front wheels...with the front being wider and larger

Maybe for drag racing purposes... otherwise I think it would be pointless and would really look strange and the handling of the vehicle would probably be horrible and dangerous...

nothign wrong at all w/ staggered wheels as long as its not a AWD car. I had staggered on my rav4 when i had it It was 18x7.5 front and 18x9.0 rear. The rims flushed out all the way around fulfilling the look of the kit.
