Hey all you 2012 Rav4 drivers. I have a 2012 Rav4 Sport and I want to phone controls to the steering wheel.
so I have a couple questions:

1. Is it even possible?

2. If possible, what parts am I going to need? I would like to use all OEM parts so I'm not having to modify my stock parts.

Furture thanks for all the input!

Yep, i did that a few years ago on my 2008 Base RAV4.

You would simply have to take out the Airbag cover , remove 2 screws and take off the existing Display button and equivalent on the left hand side (the silver parts).

Then comes the fun part of finding the replacements parts. The left hand is always the same i.e. volume and scan. The right hand side could vary: Display only, (Bluetooth, Voice Control + Display) or (BlueTooth , Voice Control but NO DISPLAY)

I chose to get the one with BT, Voice Control and Display from Ebay. I changed the radio too. I do cannot use Voice Control through since my radio does not support that. I also do not have Display in my 2008. But you should be OK.

I also had to run three wires from my clockspring (under the steering wheel) to the radio to allow the buttons to send signals to the radio. I am hoping that you have the correct clockspring. I had to upgrade the 2008 Clockspring as it did not have any ports to accept the button wires.

Also, you could try Ebay for the buttons. The dealer will sell them for $200+.
You can also try car-part.com.

AliExpress also has them and has listed them as compatible with the Yaris too. However, I found out the hard way that the Yaris/RAV4 (in China only?) steering wheel is smaller than that of my RAV4. BTW, I was looking for steering wheel cover. So that was a waste of money. So buy from AliExpress with caution.

For example, you do NOT want this one from AliExpress. It does not have the button for Display:

I luckily got a Rav with the bluetooth headunit, so hopefully it's just a matter of adding the buttons and if I'm luck the wiring is already in place.

I'll have to add photos when I get it done.

Could you post a pic of your existing buttons?
You could potentially just switch the left side out if you are happy with what you have on the right.
You however run the risk of having slightly different colours on each side, especially with the Chinese ones.
