A 10 year extended warranty on a 2001 would have expired in 2011 at the latest. It's not clear what a dealer visit in 2013 has to do with it, or why a dealer would be expected to mention the bulletin unless the issue described in it was present at the time - the extended warranty didn't cover replacing anything unless the issue actually occurred. Sorry about you needing to deal with an unexpected major repair, but I don't see Toyota being wrong here for not fixing a 15 year old car for free.

My mother's 2001 Rav4 with only 81K miles has this issue now. I've taken this to the dealer and they refused the 150K / 10 year extended warranty repair. Is there anything else I can do? My parents are old and do not know anything about cars. They had taken this car to the dealership for service (they spent around 3k back in 2013 for a bunch of repairs) and this service bulletin was never mentioned. I have lost all trust in Toyota and I believe this will be the last one for our family. Any help would be much appreciated.

1. Remove the ECM.
2. Send it to Check Engine, Inc. in Brooklyn -> Service List
3. Get the ECM back in a few days and re-install it into the RAV.

The total cost is about $250.

Just ran into this too. 2003 Rav4 1AZ-FE U140F AWD. My VIN wasn't on the list, so Toyota didn't send me nothing, and there are no recalls. Thanks a lot Toyota. But it's the same problem. P0750 code. Intermittent transmission shift problems. Long story... ended up replacing the ECM with a refurb. it now seems to be fine during a 40 mile test drive. Whatever the transmission was doing wasnt like anything other folks experienced. Really freaky and dangerous. Cost me $500 to figure this out and fix it.

Transmission questions?
My son(age 22)bought used 02 RAV4 1 month ago for 6000$ with 115,000 miles. Which we thght was fair. First day the O2 code came on and they planned to fix O2 and catalic converter. The part just finally arrived 3 week later but now the Ecu and transmission just went out. Toyota dealership estimate 4600$ for both transmission and Ecu. The used car dealer offered to buy the car back at 3000$ half what my son paid. Or give 1500$ to repairs only.
Any suggestions? How will the car be if this is fixed or should he just take what he can get and sell it back?
