G'day, just thought I would see just how far people push their beloved RAV's :D
while I am in the process of making a removable camper bed and cabinet set for Bluey (2000 4dr with no back seats) I was just thinking, what do you stuff in a RAV on a regular basis that is a bit big and possibly obscure?

I am a geek so I have managed to stuff (at different times)
a whole HP Systems server rack -minus servers (pictured after setting up)
a fuel depot dispenser arm control cabinet, (pictured)
a complete Toyota 1.8L 4cyl engine and transmission assembly
4 large window aircon units

without issue or complaint from Bluey!.

Only thing I do not have is a tow hitch, but I am not sure I want to tow with a small SUV. I know they can do it but its more a job for a full size SUV, especially if I have to move my 2 ton turret lathe some day.

Thought for sure I had some pics but not able to find them right now. But for our cross country move we had the RAV stuffed to the gills even taking up the space under the seats for our cross country move. Was using the backup cam as my rearview mirror. Plus a roof rack cargo carrier that was definitely over the 100lb recommendation. But handled it all like a champ and surprisingly turned in the same mileage as what we got with just day to day highway excursions without all the weight or cargo carrier.

Funny how those super expensive computers and server racks are at first and damn near free when scrapped. My two VAX 4000 / 106As were just rolled out of the machine room and right to the dumpster. I kept a VAX 11/730, a MIPS (ultrix) and ATT 3B3 in my house just to be perverse - then had to pay to have them dumped when I moved.

My iPhone is more powerful than all of 'em. :)

1200lbs? I think you get the prize for RAV4 weight capacity!

Haha yeh its crazy what some of the stuff I have would have cost, I mainly collect it for collecting sake, its too power hungry and slow to use every day for a home network. I never had to pay for any of my servers, racks, switches etc, companies just give it away :D

I restored a CF-104 Starfighter at a small airport about 15 km from my house. i carted the complete instrument panel, instruments, avionics, paint, landing gear parts and lots of hardware back and forth over a 14 month period in my 2011 Rav4. Only ended up with a small tear on the back of one seat.

Very nice!, the Canadian Starfighter is one awesome looking cold war jet!, I have a bunch of stuff from a Canadian Saber myself including most of the weapons radar/IFF, very well made gear, and probably still functional today!.

let me know if those links work, they should be full albums, but if your not on G+ I may have to link individual images.

Found the pic of the AC units in the RAV :D, might have one with the Corolla powertrain in it too :D

Good looking condition of the radar. Probably could be fired up. Teh Canaidan Sabres did not have a radar but this could be from a USAF one

ah thats a good point, the Saber it came from was a retired trainer in West Australia, I think it started as a Canadian fighter, got sold to the US and refitted as an F86E, then later transferred to Aus as a RAAF trainer.

friend picked up its remains from Perth Airport couple years back as a scrap cleanout job, and picked a heap of little bits off it before getting rid of the fuselage. very little remained before he got it, so it was not worth rebuilding, but he salvaged a lot of actuators, avionics and canopy + cockpit panels. I have some of the cockpit stuff and radar unit myself, I think Alex still has a heap of actuators and hydraulics.
