We are very satisfied with our 2023 rav4 prime. We waited 3 years to get it but it has lived up to my expectations. In the past we have averaged about 20 to 25K miles on our previous rav4's and rav4 hybrids and traded for new every year to year and a half. Now that we are used to the prime I would only want to trade for another prime, but alas they are still very hard to come by. So I am now considering an extended warrantee and keeping the prime for the long haul. I might add that we are now 80 years old and may well slow down our traveling a bit and put a few less miles per year. After looking at the options it looks like the platinium 6 or 7 year 125K mile warrantee may be the sweet spot for balancing the time/ milage to run out at the same time and the cost would be around $1200. If I could have a reasonable hope that I could get another one every couple of years I wouldn't ever consider an extended warrantee, but the dealers are doubtful. I have driven Toyotas for 40 years and never bought an extended warrantee but have never before had a problem getting new ones when I desired.
Any useful info from anyone? I am working with Jerry at midwest, and need to clarify a couple of things before pulling the trigger. Also wonder if you have the extended warrantee and the car should get totaled is it possible to get a refund for the unused time/milage or transfer it to a new one.

I dont think an extended warranty for 6 or 7 years at 80 years old would be a reasonable bet.

Keep in mind that a Toyota Platinum Extended Warranty can be purchased just before the Factory 3 year, 36,000 Mile (which ever comes first) warranty expires. I did that in the past with other Toyota's I have owned. The only potential downside when it comes to waiting to purchase would be if the price of the warranty increases or the few sources that offer discounted extended warranties stop doing so.

Also, I agree with others that the R4P is MUCH easier to get at MSRP or under now than it has ever been (at least in my area). My 2023 XSE with Premium Package is a example of that. Purchased in mid September 2023, took delivery in mid November 2023. Got everything I wanted except for the color (not my first choice). No dealer or port forced add-ons, no markup and slightly under MSRP.

When Toyota does indeed bring the solid state battery technology to market that they have been working on, the current RAV4 Prime would change drastically or eventually cease to exist as we know it. I suspect it might coincide with the opening of Toyota's Battery Manufacturing plant in North Carolina next year (2025). That plant is said to have 4 production lines for Hybrid batteries and two production lines for EV batteries. Time will tell, stay tuned.

I concur but we each have our own thoughts. I‘m 73 and just bought a 2024 RAV4. I’m comfortable with the 3 year/36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty along side the 5 year/60,000 mile power train coverage.

Having said that I note the OP racks up the mileage pretty quickly and can see his point.

Everybody is going to be different at that age. I have a personal friend that is 89 and still flies his own plane. Along with traveling the world to share his experiences in life historically. Physically and mentally to look at him you would think he was in his 60's. He walks normal (not slow either) and is sharp mentally.

I have not bought an extended warranty on a vehicle in 60 years.... till now. There is SOOOO much technology in the R4P. I fear there may NEVER be independent shops that can work on them. I went with Jerry. My only regret is that perhaps I should have went 10 yr 125k miles. I went 100k miles and now we are racking up miles faster than I thought. We drive the Leaf around town, but the long trips really put on miles.
