To XM or not?

I continued my subscription after my free trial but I'm usually listening to one of my Amazon music created playlists and rarely listen to the radio.

I do like one local station but I am wondering if I would still be able to tune in if I get rid of XM?

I hate to keep paying for a subscription if I don't need to....

By local, do you mean AM or FM? If so, you don't need XM for those.

Why I like XM is for longer trips out of my local area, sometimes clear across the country, or even Canada. Can't get my local FM stations (obviously) so listen to XM.

Also, XM will work where there is no cell phone service which is required for streaming.

I have used an XM subscription for several years. One cost point to consider is that every year mine is renewed they start out with a high price, sometimes as much as $20/ month. Then I call them on the phone to say I can’t afford that much, and they give me a “special deal” and I pay $90-$100/ year. It’s annoying, but at least they do always lower the price.

What market are you in?
City and state and country please
Do you have more than one xm radio?
You can do a professional xm fleet account on the cheap. You can add or remove radios on the fly as well.
Handy for those who online stream as well as mobile satellite radios .

And if you have a real good cellphone and unlimited data you can stream with the iHeart radio app.
I have a few stations in California I like as well as a few from DC.

Kinda excited as our 5G ultra is testing last week in my area for cellphone
We’re in the sticks so 500 MBs or faster cellphone data is pretty cool.

If you could still buy transferrable lifetime subscriptions, yep, I would buy it. But you can't do that any longer. I moved my lifetime to 4 different radio ID's thus far, I bought at the right time.

Where's crapple to solve this issue, partner with SpaceX, toss up some radio sats, put a sat radio receiver in the iPhone, make a Apple sat service, charge less than xm, done. This way you carry your xm radio all the time and you can BT it to anything.
