I want to get a small pull behind. I don't have a two package yet. Has anyone got suggestions on a tow package and do I need to do any upgrades? Can I make any upgrades to make this easier on my car? I really don't want to trade it if I don't have to. It is currently rated for 3300lbs. Thanks in advance.

Hey all,

Does anyone tow a camper with this car? I see it's got a 3300lb tow capacity. Advice on any upgrading necessary or any hints anyone can give me? I love this car and don't really want to trade it to tow a small camper if possible.

What's your idea of an "small camper"? Unless it's a heavy wind blocker you want to tow at 75mph I don't see a problem.

My BIL with our wives (one each!) towed a Casita/Scamp 16, from Anchorage to Prudhoe Bay & back with his 3500# tow rated '08 V6 RAV4 a dozen years ago. The only mod to the RAV was the addition of an electric brake controller. Plenty of power for any hill (or mountain) but then the road conditions and the 55 mph kept speed down. Many people will add additional cooling for towing but with temps in the 50s we had no issues.
So, while your I4 won't have the V6 power ours did, I'm quite sure with restraint on speed you'd have no problems except fuel mileage. Ours was 14-15 even at 50-60 mph.
