Hi All,

Purchased a used 2013 XLE last August. Very happy with it. Our first Toyota.

Interesting situation. It has a Curt trailer hitch installed. I have no idea what class it is but the hole looks pretty large to me. It appears that it has been used because of the wear inside the hole. But I can't find a wiring harness.

Where could it be hidden?

Could it be that the hitch was only used for an accessory?

How easy would it be for a diy removal?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Al

It was likely used for a bike rack or a hitch rack carrier, neither of which need lights.
The aftermarket receivers are held on with four bolts. Just be careful removing it because they are pretty heavy. (Heavy enough to use as a rear center jacking point.)

Trailer wiring on 4.4s will be located in the spare tire well if it was ever installed, not needed for a hitch mounted carrier tho as Dr D said.
