hi all. i recently purchase a 3 door 1994 RAV4 auto. it was for a beach hack. it was ok when i gave it a quick test drive but now i see that once it is warmed up it changes down while i am driving and then after a few seconds changes backup.
It would be uneconomic to replace the transmission so my questions are as follows:

Has anyone else experienced these problems?

Is there anything to alleviate this?

how long could it keep going as it is still getting me out fishing so i guess i can just keep using it until it wont move anymore?

thank you for any light you can shed on this matter.

Down- and upshifting could be normal, depending on various factors.

But if it hasn't been done lately, get the transmission's fluid, filter, and pan gasket changed. Make sure the correct fluid is used -- AWD uses a Toyota-brand special fluid; FWD uses a more common fluid.
