While I was dropping the pan for a transmission fluid change, I got under my 05 RAV4 and noticed a tiny bit of oil on the seal between the axle shaft and transmission (I don't know what the right name for this part is, so I'm attaching photos, you can see a tiny bit of oil on one of them). I've not noticed any kind of drips until now (no drops on the road or garage). Is this something to be very concerned about? Is there a fix that is not too costly if it is? :crying

That looks like clean motor oil, not transmission fluid. Probably a little oil got spilled while filling and a little dripped down. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks JuneBug! I will wipe the area and see if it happens again. If infact there is a leak, can it be fixed?

Of course any leak can be fixed, short of a cracked block. But since it is CLEAN oil, I doubt it came from inside the engine.
