Does anyone know if there is a way to turn off the rear auto braking?

I like the Rear Cross Traffic alerts but the auto brake is too much! I had the attention of everyone in the parking lot at the post office the other day, how embarrassing. As I was backing out of a stall I knew other cars were coming by and I was basically creeping out at 1-2 mph as they passed by with way more than enough room. (Perhaps Toyota should make a threshold where it only activates when its only over 2-3 mph).

Hopefully there is a way to turn it off. Otherwise I like most of the other safety features.

I hope for you there is a way. However, as with the "Roads may be Icy" warning, Toyota has shown that they do not like giving customers the opportunity to disable "safety" features, probably for liability reasons.

Maybe they'll treat it like they do with the Auto Start-Stop on their larger engines. They make you push a button every time you start the car to disable it. No permanent way to turn it off.
Rant over.

You can permanently disable the auto start/stop by disconnecting the wire leading to the hood latch. When you disconnect it, the car thinks that the hood is open and does not engage the auto start/stop function.

Did this to my XLE gas version about a year ago and couldn't be happier that I don't have to press that buttom every time I start the car.
