For some reason the Toyota app is “unable to process this request at this time” when I try to add my 2019 Rav4 using the VIN. Does anyone know why this might be happening?
Suggest you go to the Toyota web site and, using your VIN, look up any recalls/service bulletins that may apply to your car (Lookup Safety Recalls & Service Campaigns). If that does not recognize your VIN, then your VIN was never registered by the dealer with Toyota when it was first sold.

The app uses the same new car sold registration to recognize a valid VIN.

My VIN was recognized on the Toyota website.

Has anyone figured this out because I’m having the same issue with my 2019 rav4
Same exact problem, also a 2019. I'm guessing nobody has figured it out or nobody even sees this.
To add a vehicle, hold down the car symbol at the bottom of the screen for a couple seconds, then press the "+" sign. Did you do that?

Did you check to see if your car VIN was registered with Toyota when it was sold? (Post #2 above).

Did you update your App so you have the latest?

If that doesn't work, call Toyota.

The app requires that you add a vehicle on the first screen upon opening. I add my VIN (I have scanned it as text, scanned it as a barcode, and manually entered it multiple times) and it recognizes my car. That page gives you the option of adding a nickname for your car, choosing a dealer for maintenance/repairs, and viewing your vehicle capabilities. At the bottom of that page, there is a "Save Changes" button. when I press that, I get a message every single time that says, "Unable to process the request. Please try again". I can't even get to the page you're talking about with the car symbol at the bottom of the screen. I have to get past this registration screen first.

I can go to toyota.com and log in with my Apple ID (the same one I use for the app) and my car is there, VIN and all. I don't know why the app would be different.

I literally just downloaded the app, so it is the most recent version.

I've emailed them. We'll see if I get any answers.

I'm having the same issue. The website recognizes my VIN for my 2019 RAV4 but the app keeps saying after multiple tries “unable to process this request at this time." I tried uninstalling the app and installing it again but it didn't fix the issue.
Same issues here and same make model and year, did you find a way to get access?

Press your SOS button and talk to a rep. The previous owner still has the car registered to them. They will email you and you send them proof of purchase. Takes a day or two, but the. You can register.
Which will only work if you already have the service. I tried that while on the phone with a rep but I hadn't yet enrolled in the secure connect service (or whatever it's called) so that wasn't going to work. I had to send proof of ownership so they could delete the previous owner.

No. I had to call them back because they never confirmed they had my proof of ownership. Once I did they said it would take a few days for everything to update. I just kept trying to add my vehicle in the app and after 2 or 3 days I was able to.

Thanks. I called the dealership and they said it takes 3-5 days after purchase for them to get the sale into their system. I just bought the car last Thursday night.
