I am upgrading from 215 Steel wheels (Standard to my car) to 235 alloys

I see in the KYB shock absorber catalogue it lists different shock absorbers/dampers for the 215 than 235 wheeled cars

Got me to thinking - do I need to change the shock absorbers when I put 235s on and if it is desirable are they different (mountings, etc.) or just firmer?

No need to change the shocks. Your current ones will be fine. Many people have put different sized wheels and tyres on their RAVs without having to change shocks. Just make sure the offset of the new rims is the same or similar to the stock wheels.

Thanks for that

Another thing - The ones I have bought are Toyota one (16x7)

The leaflet with them says put on 215/70R16 - Toyota told me I need to put 235/60R16 on

I'd prefer the wider ones - but whose right?

They both will fit, 235 will look better.
