Two data points to add.

I put a $1,000 deposit down in July in NH for an XLE Hybrid. I was told by every dealer I went to at that time that there was a 2 to 6 month wait and a 2K markup, and yes I ended up agreeing to that.
In October I got a call about a gray one, but I really wanted white. In early November another customer backed out on a white one, and I said I would take it. It was a Kentucky VIN.

A month later in early December a friend decided to get the same model. He went to a different dealership and said he would only pay MSRP, and they agreed with little argument but said 4 months wait. In early January the dealership called him and said they had a black one- not his first choice, but he said he'd take it. It was a 2023 Japan VIN Black XLE Hybrid. So he ended up only waiting a month and paid MSRP. He did only get 1 keyfob until there are more.

Order a 2023 Hybrid XSE in September 2022 as the first 10 in-line for 2023 Hybrid XSE, delivered in December 2022.
Loaded Japanese import (not Canada or US build) as we ordered.
Longo Toyota, CA, $0 markup above total MSRP, $0 dealer "mandatory" installed option or warranty, and 0 drama.
I heard they have stop taking more orders on most 2023 Hybrid models, due to the same limited allocations that all dealerships are still facing nowadays.

Use Markup.org to check for $0 markup dealer in your area.
Advanced Search - Markups.org
Decide exactly the model and accessories you want, order as soon as you can, and wait patiently.
The less hassle you give to dealer, the more willing they will want to work with you.

I got lucky and was a while ago. Has 2800 markup (early days). Needed car since someone totaled my 2016 Rav4.Air bags are priceless and saved my life I think.

They had a 2022 Rav4 XSE Cavalry blue which is a new style and kind of uniquire since most of my accessories I put on came from Canada like body side molding, bug shield which is so well built but takes time to put on. At 220 HP it is pretty quick. The prime is 300 HP.

Just curious, Was that an order they placed for you or is it one that was finally allocated to the dealership?
We got the call from the dealer yesterday (Feb. 20).
Our 2023 Rav4 Limited Hybrid in pearl and Ash is scheduled to be built March 20 in Kentucky.
We got on the dealer list (allocation) 2 weeks ago.
$1000. deposit over the telephone and price is MSRP.

We picked up our 2023 Wind Chill Pearl XSE This Saturday, Feb 18th. Purchased at MSRP with no ADM, $150 Doc, no financing so no funny finance dept tricks or high cost warranties, chemicals or the like involved. It’s got Weather Package and that’s it. Had crossbars, all weather floor liners port installed both keys and FOB’s. Blackout emblems are on window sticker and on vehicle but no $ cost and I double checked that, also had an OEM ‘spider’ cargo net in the package in back and who knows where that had come from. This build was produced in December, and had been showing on the dealers website from early December on. They don’t mark them sold, which is inconvenient but the dealer said “it’s sold”. I tried to purchase an on the lot and unclaimed ‘23 Wind Chill SE with Convenience and Weather from them, but they would ONLY trade and they were at MSRP, BUT, were undervaluing our current ‘22 RAV SE by $3k - tried to purchase outright but they said “trade only”!
We’d purchased the ‘22 Rav from a local GM dealership that treated us very well, the owners have two Toyota stores, so we have gotten Tacomas from them too. Had spec’d and “ordered” a ‘23 SE in October but no allocation so no RAV. Was on a waitlist at the local store too, but same thing, no allocation for a Wind Chill SE or XSE, only Cavalry Blue and no Weather or Convenience. Seems like I’m our area (Pacific NW) there are mostly XLE and Woodland Edition Hybrids coming in, and we didn’t want either.
After doing the math on the SE vs. XSE we realized that equipped as we wanted the prices were pretty close, so XSE was a strong consideration, having the ambient lighting we had THOUGHT the ‘22 SE was going to, Softex, LED front accent lighting, homelink, roof, etc and the new updated center stack, dash screen and upgraded 2.5 Safety suite. I had sold my ‘21 lifted TRD Off Road MT outright in November at what I think was peak pricing, for almost enough to cover price of a ‘23 Solar Octane TRD Pro that we purchased last month from the local Toyota store, so when there told the sales person that I “wanted that XSE” but he reconfirmed it was “sold”…..and I stopped in and asked about it at least every week so he wouldn’t (couldn’t?) forget about me :).
Fast forward to this Saturday 2/18 - he called me at about 10:30 AM as I was driving into town - said “hey what are you doing”? And then asked if I “wanted to come see about buying a ‘23 XSE Hybrid”? I was literally two blocks away so was there in front of him before he hung up. Apparently the folks who had reserved the XSE had too much negative equity due to dropping book values and couldn’t obtain financing so it became available. Needless to say I acted fast and purchased it, and today we sold the 8500 mile 2022 SE to the GM dealership - they paid us exactly what we had paid for it, so all in all it worked out very well. Also noticed that there’s been a $500 price increase since the ‘23 was built, so feel pretty fortunate there too. We had initially ordered a ‘22 XSE in fall of ‘21 before prices were announced and were surprised at the size of the price jump and when finally allocated it had Pano which we didn’t really want - the SE was inbound, had what we needed and was available, so that was the logical choice. Honestly? A lot of ‘work’ and patient persistence but happy with the outcome. Sorry for the novel - but it’s mostly all to say just to be persistent, make friends with more than one dealer - simply be straight up and straightforward with them and you never know what might happen.
We have enjoyed our first year with a Rav Hybrid, and are looking forward to many more!

We put down a deposit for a 2023 Woodland edition on Jan 27, 2023 and were told it would likely be 6-8 weeks before delivery. I just checked in with our sales person this morning and he said it was set to start build March 1st. I had been watching the websites of dealers in the area and this was one of the few vehicles priced under $40k and no one had claimed it yet. The other thing we are waiting to see is that there is nothing on any of the feature lists for this VIN that says it has a moonroof. We checked, the sales folks checked. If so it is a bit of a unicorn as I have not seen a single RAV4 hybrid listed without one.🤞

In Southern California. We just picked up the wife's Cavalry Blue Woodland this past Saturday. I can't really give an exact length of time, considering she and I only came in to LOOK at the Rav4s to see if she even wanted to drive one. We were told this specific VIN was currently in assembly in Woodstock. We put our name plus $1k down that day.

Walked in the dealer: 2/4
Vehicle completed: 2/7
Was supposed to be delivered: 2/20
Actually took delivery: 2/25

Southern Indiana. May 2022 deposit for 2022 RAV4 Hybrid XLE Premium plus weather package and mats, magnetic gray over black. Was told delivery likely late 2022 and might be offered something "close" to our specs. Picking up 2023 tomorrow after 10 mos - from Georgetown, KY plant. Surprised it's EXACTLY what we "ordered", MSRP with no dealer/port adds. MSRP increase from 2022 to 2023 on this one about $1850 which seems reasonable. Search today of dealers within 200 miles indicates 16 used 2021-2022 XLE Premiums average $3.4K above our new 2023 price - payback for a long wait? CarGurus FMV for 2022 XLE Premium (20K miles) is $3K more. Pleased with sales rep and dealer. Now, hope we like it and that the reliability lives up to Toyota's reputation.

Was wanting to get a 2023 RAV4 Hybrid Limited White with either ash or nutmeg interior.....litterally contacted almost every single Toyota dealer coast to coast....most via emails....came across several scenarios.....everything from, "we do not sell to out of state buyers"....to $5K over MSRP......was only willing to pay at most MSRP, no "add-on's......no bs. For the dealers that wanted to do business.....was told the average wait time would be 6-9 months. Ended up putting $500 deposit down at two different dealerships that were about 300 miles away from me. Deposits were to be 100% refundable for any reason at any time.....both dealerships agreed to that. Put deposits down on Feb 2nd.....fast forward to Feb 22nd...get an email from one of the dealerships that I placed a deposit with.....was told they had a 2023 RAV4 Hybrid Limited, White with Ash interior in stock (was built in Japan).....asked if we wanted it.....of course we said yes! Turns out, someone else ordered it and decided they did not want it when it came in. Traveled 300 miles and picked it up on Feb 25th. Basically, from the day we put the deposit down, until we took delivery, was about 3 weeks.....a bit shorter than the 6-9 months wait time we were told....yes, we got lucky. As one other poster said, be persistant.....keep checking other dealers, as far away as you are willing to travel....more and more people are changing their mind and are either removing their name from the wait lists....or.....simply are turning down the RAV4 once it arrives. Oh, before I forget, I did get refunded my deposit from the second dealership. Happy Hunting!

So I hear, but they send you a 2nd fob latter (maybe in 12 or 15 years, but defiantly latter).

Hey all, I’m new here. I initially posted in the new members introduction section. My thread there is titled: Just Joined From Central Texas.

Man oh man oh man did I get a shock yesterday. I talked over the phone with a saleslady from our local Toyota dealer regarding our interest in a RAV4 Hybrid XLE. We want a white one with a beige interior.

She said they could order one. It would cost a $1,000.00 deposit, which is refundable. They do not mark up or add on from MSRP. The bad thing is- she said it could take up to 12 months to arrive, and if so, it could end up being a 2024 model, so they would not be able to quote us an exact price at this time. Nuts. We are ready for one now. Ugh!

If you read my post in the introductions section, you will see that I had sold my ‘06 Tundra to help make room for (both space-wise in the garage, and financially) for a RAV4. But I wasn’t expecting to have such a long wait to get in to a new vehicle.

The guy hadn’t paid me yet for my Tundra nor had I taken a deposit from him. I called him last night and told him he might want to keep looking because it’s now going to be a while before I’ll let the Tundra go. He asked how long. I told him maybe up to a year. Well he got a bit pissed, and told me to go f- - k myself. (ouch) Whelp that’s the end of that deal. I’ve also now taken down my ad for the Tundra. Looks like she’ll be with me for a while longer yet.

I feel bad about it. Wifey had told me to get the Tundra put up for sale right away, “because you don’t know how long it’s going to take to sell it,” and here it sold right off the bat.

It’s been such a long time since we’ve bought a brand new vehicle. I had no clue it would take such a long time to get one.

We last bought brand new, a 2019 BMW X1 for my wife. It was easy peasy, wham bam thank you ma’am, drove it home same day, and got a very satisfying deal to boot. And now you have to wait a year????? And pay sticker??? Totally ridiculous.

But wifey says we’re going to go in and plunk down $1000.00 and get the Hybrid XLE ordered. Maybe it won’t take as long as they say.

I was originally wanting a new 4Runner, but we’re concerned about what many happen again with fuel prices looking forward. You can see I mentioned this in my thread in the new members introduction section.

Well, nuts. I’m glad I found this forum. We were looking forward to going out and finding us a new RAV4 Hybrid, but the reality of it is it looks like we’re going to be maybe a year out. As such, I may not have much to post about here in the near term. Take care all.

I started looking in Jan. Every dealership in my area had a 6-12 months wait, closer to 6 months if you also had a car to trade in. And...you still had to pay a markup. The one dealership that was selling for MSRP had a waitlist soo long that the wait was closer to 12 months +. I ended up going through an auto broker who was able to find me a car in 1 month, the exact trim I was looking for. The downside was that I had to pay a markup of 3000. My current car was totaled so I couldn't afford to wait so I ended up buying it.

Took delivery of my 2023 XLE hybrid tonight March 6th 2023 Ordered it back on June 1st 2022
Car was manufactured in Japan
I was originally told 3-6 months and its been over 9 months, but finally got it.
I'm a NJ resident but got mine from a PA Dealer that I purchased cars from in the past .
Paid exactly MSRP + tax, title and documentation fee with no dealer add on, up sales or funny business
There was an approximate $1200 MSRP price increase between the 2022 Model and the 2023 .
They asked me if I was interested in an extended warranty I said no , they had me initial a warranty waiver form and didn't try to talk me into anything ..
Walked in and drove out with the new car in a little over 60 minutes. Absolutely no up sales pressure from the dealer.
Just about all NJ dealers are charging between $1500-$3000 over MSRP as a “Market Adjustment fee “ Traveled 90 miles to pick up the car in PA but well worth it
