Has anyone got their head unit to successfully read audio from an Android device via USB? I'm pretty irritated with Toyota for their selfish inward looking reasons for not supporting Android Auto and Apple Car Play, but I'm sure there must be a work around.

I had a Mazda 3 before the RAV and there's quite a community dedicated to 'hacking' the infotainment system, I surprised there isn't one for Toyota.

I'm not sure you can play music through USB direct from an android phone. Could be wrong. But you can using an aux cable, Bluetooth or just using a thumb drive and not the phone at all.

Trust me, the BT play will work way better that USB.
At least you can play mp3 files "by folders" or playlists via BT. Impossible via USB.
USB playback is horrible on Entune. You cannot control what is playing.

Using a mem stick you have access to folders etc. I've never tried just going straight to a phone with USB though.

The android devise needs to present itself as a "mass storage device" in order for that to work. I'm not sure if any of them can but its possible.
