This is still a big deal for me. I cannot play mp3 files by folders. I have a 2016 RAV4 with JBL with no CD.
But according 2013 RAV3 with CD can play from USB by folders:

Can someone confirm that?

Not sure why you think the 2013 model is relevant, its a different head unit.
There is no "folder" option in this model, but you can still play by "album". It does require appropriate tags.

I have a 2016 and wish it played by folder, but it does not. I changed the name of the album on each song to the folder name to get around this. Some of my folder names were Country, Pop, etc. In some cases I could have done the same thing by changing the gene to the same folder name and got the same result. Don't have a reason as to why they went away from playing by folder. Maybe in the next iteration it will be back.

I just checked and the CD-Changer port is available in my NAV JBL headunit. I will try to get a CD changer to USB Aux adapter. Not sure if headunit will recognize it.

Because USB does not play mp3 by folders. And no CD drive - no option
