2014 Limited with 89,000km when replaced. I had the RAV in for regular service on a Tuesday and we were leaving on Friday AM to drive to Ontario. On Thursday at about 1:30pm I decided to check the fluid levels and noticed that the coolant level was well below the low mark. I called the dealership and took it in right away. They showed me where the coolant had been spraying on the underside of the hood and on the pulleys. Kudo's to the dealership as they had a water pump in stock and had it done by 4:30. Too bad they hadn't noticed it when it was there 2 days prior though.

Wow. Had to be a manufacturing defect. Hope it was covered under warranty.

The last time I had to replace a water pump was on my 1974 Volvo in 1982. You had to regularly replace water pumps (and a lot of other things) on Volvos back then.

Yes, it was covered under the 5/100 powertrain warranty. They were very surprised that it was bad, said they seldom see one. Just lucky they had one in stock.
