I was having some work done on my 2009 2.5L I4 with about 28K at the dealership. As part of the inspection they indicated that the water pump was "weeping" and was quoted about $400 to replace it. I told them that the coolant level is staying steady at full when hot. I also asked why the water pump would fail at only 28K and they said it was a function of time not mileage.
Is a "weeping" water pump something to worry about and how long does a "weeping" water pump last?
Do I just keep an eye on the coolant level and not worry about it?

Yeah they will weep but if you start to lose a good amount of coolant I would get it replaced...definitely something to keep an eye on...
