So I am finally fed up with my constant brake squealing. I touge my rav4 frequently on the stock brake pads but after a run or two, the FF setup just puts too much strain on the organic brake compound and they overheat and stick. That’s a pretty common problem with those crappy street pads, but I’m looking for something in the middle: a ceramic pad that will scream when it’s not hot, but the organic can’t handle the car at high temp and press. Has anyone fixed this? If so, what pad did you look at/go with?
Okay, it's racing, likely impromptu, on windy mountain roads where weak brakes could put you "over the edge."
In the m/c world one of the favorite challenging rides is The Tail of the Dragon. Each year several riders go over the edge on, or more accurately off, it. It's often their last ride.
I installed the BrakeStop Extreme brake setup on all four wheels. Slotted and drilled rotors with ceramic/metallic pads. No dust and excellent stopping power along with zero fade until the rotor gets red hot.
Yea, once in a while I like to hotdog (touge) on some of the windy back roads around where I live. Would never do it with stock brakes.
