After picking up my 2021 Prime SE with weather/moonroof pkg, I had a list of things that I wanted to add for protection, durability, and ease of use for myself and my canine family members. Luckily since I bought it at MSRP I had some wiggle room in the budget to do this. Thought I'd share what I put on my vehicle in case anyone else wanted to know where I got them.

DOG PROOFING

I have a 70lb husky/malamute and often haul my friend's husky along with him to dog parks and camping trips. This required a bit of thinking for protecting the interior of the car and securing them in the cargo area when there are more than 2 people traveling with us. I have yet to find something to protect the interior plastic of the hatch door from excited puppy nails looking out the window, but the hunt is on.

EXTERIOR UPGRADES

I road trip a lot, and wanted to add a few more things on top of the stock weather package to protect from small rocks kicking up and the constant stepping in/out of the car.

INTERIOR UPGRADES

I needed to protect the cloth seats from dogs if they rode in the backseat, and upgrading to real leather made me nervous about possibly scratching it. Thanks to this forum I found really well-fitted seat covers that look OEM - even the Toyota parts guy was surprised how good it looked. I needed it to be brighter inside, so these LEDs did the trick and then I added a few more cabin accessories that also match the stock look.

TECH UPGRADES

I almost bought a Tesla (and watch my fair share of Wham Bam Teslacam), so the lack of a dashcam was concerning to me on my new car. After falling down a black hole of 12v battery vs the big hybrid battery, how they get charged and how a dashcam might drain them, etc - I settled on a security camera system that is powered by an external battery pack, and that pack is charged only when the car is on and you are driving it. This way I get to use parking mode without killing the car. I also got an adapter so I could stop at a Tesla charger on a camping trip if necessary. I chose a 240v home charger that would be able to do shared charging for multiple EVs in the future.

I immediately bought and installed:

1) interior LEDs ($15 kit on Amazon)
2) Tuxmat floor liners for front and rear
3) OEM cargo liner (which covers back of rear seats)
4) Dashcam and hardwiring kit
5) some bungee cords in the back to make a sort of flexible cargo retaining system.

Very happy with all of them!

Thanks, I wasn't sure if the XSE onese fit good w/o air bubbles so I went with a custom cut / high quality film one. I used the one I linked to in the past on my 4Runner and it worked out great. It kind of has a matte look to it and helps on sunny days with the glare. I saved the one you linked to just in case the one I had cut doesn't work out.

Can you take a photo of how it turned out on your XSE w/9" screen? I haven't seen good customer photos of a 9" screen protector on Amazon.

Any Dashcam that uses a removable memory card REALLY NEEDS to use the "High Endurance" type card. Why? These cards are designed to survive the CONSTANT WRITES that dash/remote surveillance video cameras do. The regular memory cards were NEVER designed for the constant writes (esp if you set the dash cam to record when the car is off). You won't appreciate this until you need to retrieve video footage, but can't due to bad sector(s).

I would stick w/:
Samsung PRO Endurance line.
SanDisk MAX Endurance OR High Endurance line.
Kingston Endurance.
All others are cheap/imitation knock offs.

As for dashcams, I'm a fan of BlackVue. Trendsetter and solid features. Various price points depending on what features you want. True 4K recording; u like others that use upscale software on a lower resolution image sensor, to "digitize" a non-4k sensor into pseudo 4k.

Wireless charger tray – a very easy install – I opened the tray and unsoldered one of the leads that connect to the wireless charging circuit as I didn’t want this feature. I did try out the wireless charger when I first installed the tray and it does charge the phone; however when I use Android Auto the phone gets charged – my guess is that I’m prbly the only person who bought a wireless charging tray for it’s other features: voltage readout, USB C and quick charge USB A. I made a template and cut the non-slip mat to fit the tray’s smooth surface which worked out quite nicely --- you can also find these ebay just make sure it is one that dznt ship from China

Back Lit Mirror switch for drivers side door:

84872-30070 – Expensive and not easy to source; but very easy to install. This switch matches and completes the other illuminated switches. I bought mine from jp-carparts.com -- $59.45 + DHL quick shipping (which only took a few days) $22..00 + 4% PayPal fee $3.26 for a total of $84.71 (youch)

Disabled VSS Mode:

This little operation permits the VSS circuit to be turned Off (and back On). When the VSS is "off", you can search files on a USB stick, as well as input info into the GPS (ie: WAZE) while the car is in motion – a pretty handy mod

Anyone do Navigation in Motion on a 2021 JBL yet?

Trying to do the Navigation in Motion bypass on a 2021 with JBL. It looks as if the connectors have changed. Much of what I read is pin 17 on a 28 pin plug... The plug on the 2021 appears to be 30 pin. Possible I should be looking at the grey plug but it is a different configuration than most...
