It's a switch for a KARR brand alarm system. This is a low end high markup profit maker for new car dealers. And many buyers find that the dealer added it without their consent. I would go ballistic if I found that my new car had this crap installed especially when they insist on drilling holes in the nice new dash panel.
Definitely a aftermarket device. You can tell by the cheap screws that they drilled in crooked. I would be heading back to the dealer and having them replace the dash panel with a brand new one at their expense. Also may want to see what they charged for this cheap-o piece of junk.
Hope you saved your window sticker. It is the bible. If the system was listed on the sticker, then you bought it. People need to read and understand their sticker. It would be hard to argue that you did not know about the security system if it is listed.
There is a KARR sticker on my side window. I guess that's it. It is not listed on my window sticker and I didn't pay for it though. Why would they install the device, never even mention it, and not try to sell it to me? It's barely noticeable so it's not bothering me that much. As a matter of fact, I had to shine a flashlight on it to get a picture of it. Thanks! I also emailed toyota.com/owners and I'm curious what their reply will be.
