I have been checking out Camry and Corolla. Seems 4 cylinders for these cars have oil consumption problems.

Do Rav4 4 cylinder engines have oil consumption problems?

Which generation Rav4 with 4 cylinder might be the best?

you want to avoid the rav4s with the 2.4l engine, mid 4.3 generation they changed over to the 2.5l that doesn't burn oil.

That would be 2009 forward. As always have any used vehicle thoroughly checked out.

2009-2012 for the 4.3 generation are the best but those RAV4s are also among biggest.
What year of RAV4 were you interested in?
It doesn't really matter what year. Just want a car that is front wheel drive and has slow acceleration from a 4 cylinder engine.

The car will be for my wife. I am trying to keep her from going into drainage ditches during stormy weather.

Rear wheel drive and a V6 does not help prevent her from doing that.
