Have a 2012 4 cylinder Rav4. Bought it on Oct 1st, 2016. 63,000 miles. Engine and carfax looked good in and out. 100 miles down the road I noticed a turbine whine noise coming from the engine/ front of car. Only when I accelerate, when I let off the gas it goes away. Happens between 35-50MPH, fades away after 50. I have done a lot of research and have not found a definitive answer, I was hoping to find someone else on here with the same issue or knows how to fix it. I did find a thread on here about a TSB for the V6 that seems very similar to what I am dealing with.

Whine doesn't sound terrible just annoying. It almost sounds like the prius how it winds up as you accelerate but it is not a hybrid. Hope that makes sense.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

VERY familiar with the V-6 whine but haven't heard of it in a 2012 four banger. Hopefully others will know about it .

I have no experience with this, but a good guess would probably be the alternator, or maybe water pump.
