Title says it all.
I want to change my tires for something with a bit more bitting when I go camping and hunting, something like the OPEN COUNTRY A/T II or the xtrem version.
OEM size is 235/55/R18 and the only size available for the OC is 255/55/18

I went on a web calculator and the differences are:
Tire width: 3/4'' wider
Tire height: less than 1'' taller (0.86'' to be exact)
They recommend to stay within 3% of the OEM tire size with this it's at 3.07.

Any of you have tires like that and/or similar? any issues?
Thanks in advance.

I put 235/65-17s on my 2010 sport with no issues at all. Your 255/55-18s are the same height and .7 inches wider. I see no reason you couldn't do it.

OP, I'm literally in the same situation in wanting to upgrade my tires on the same wheel (2011 V6 sport with same OE wheel and tire size as you).

Did you ever upgrade them, did they rub?

Thanks!

Hi Sennicm,
I did not make the move yet.
I'll probably buy 17'' for winter tires and have more choices.
Summer I use std tires.
