How to Adjust 2013 Headlamps

Always thought the old way was the only way eh?
We've some learning to do.
Was that easy to adjust. Their is a cap screw on the adjustment gear it is all part of the adjustment. I thought I had to loosen it and really screwed the light up. Just stick a narrow bladed screw driver in to the gear slots and turn it. It appears that ccw raises and cw lowers the headlight. Will check it tonight to see how they look. So much for Hoselton Toyota service in East Rochester. I hate it when service men try to tell you it can't be done. Too damn lazy to investigate in my unbiased opinion. My lights were so bad it was dangerous to drive at night. Sounds like other people have the same problem.

it's a lot easier to adjust it grabbing the screw with a small ratchet wrench using 10mm soccket. easier to swivel cw or ccw with more leverage

How to Adjust 2013 Headlamps

You are right I found the deep socket 10 mm I can turn the adjustment with my fingers. What is with these light as they have a dirty yellow line at the top and bottom. I got the lights up where i Think they will be okay but the passenger side sure is lacking in showing to the right. It would be hard to see someone walking out ahead of the car or a deer alongside the road. I can't find any adjustment for horizontal.

Yes they both adjust the same way. Still haven't found a horizontal adjustment

I don't believe there is a horizontal adjustment, only vertical.

Thanks Joe. Have you tried or found a way to program the Headlights to go off automatically. My 2010 the headlights went off automatically but on the 2013 only the DRL goes off automatically. I don't like to run with the DRL as the tail lights are not on. The headlights will go off but I believe it is about 20 minutes. Which makes me think it should be programmable.

Just a thought... I hope drivers are not flashing due to the fog lights being on while driving at night. I know that they send out quite a beam. Not sure but do the fogs come on as part of the "high beam" system?

Not sure about the USA Rav4's but the Canadian XLE (2013) doesn't have auto off headlights. If you get out of the car when the lights are on there is a 'beep' to remind you to turn them off. I've never left them on but I don't think they'll go off until the battery goes dead. ;)

There is a delay and it is programable. So, if the headlight turn off is set for 30 seconds and you open the door, the timer starts. Head lights turn off 30 seconds later. If you kept your headl lights on all the time, you would kind of have automatic lights.

I haven't found this to be the case. The longest I have waited is a few minutes when getting gas, they were still on.

Where is this setting?

Not on the CDN 2013 XLE. I'm going to wager a guess that if I turn my lights on, shut off the car and leave it overnight, all I would discover is a discharged battery in the morning. Someone in the 'Great White North' want to try this and let us know what happens?

There is a automatic shut off in something like 20 minutes if the engine is not running. Reference, owners book.
I say again: not on the Canadian Rav4 XLE, only the LTD. :p

I guess I don't see why the cars would be that different from U.S. to Cunuckland.

For those who want to know. I found it in settings on the lcd. I also found that there are different color combos for the LCD screen like orange a couple blues and so on.

Eisbaer,

I have the 2013 Rav 4 Limited. In your setup top right head unit. Select vehicle, then scroll done 2nd page. headlight delay. Options: off, 30sec, 60sec, 90sec. Set to off. once you turn your vehicle off you must open the door then the light will turn off immediately. Not sure about the other models/

Automatic light off system, U.S.o owners book, page 220. It describes conditions for the 20 minute lights off. Basically engine off, light switch NOT on auto, and a door open, lights automatically go off in 20 minutes. There is no distinction for model, and a door must be kept open. Doesn't say what happens if the doors are closed.

Check back on this thread. I posted pics of where the adjustment is. Happy New Year.
