Hey in one way I do not care. But my eco light appears to always be on. I mean if I am going 65-70 mph. The light is on. Really could I be always be driving in eco manner? I just cannot believe it. Does it bother me. No not really but just cannot believe I can be eco driving all the time. This is eco light that shows up on the rpm gauage.

Do notice that if I put it in sport mode and go up a incline at 65-70 it is not always on. I hardly ever put it in eco mode. Either normal or sport. Most of the time its normal mode. Just wondering.

You most likely drive in an ECO manner.
Ask yourself, am I the guy in the left lane driving one mile below the speed limit that everyone else on the road is trying to go around?

My Eco light remains on at all speeds unless I engage the gas pedal too abruptly...then it will go off.

Once your engine is revving past about 2,000-2,500 RPM it should go off. However, if you're parked and the light is on while the engine is on, then something may be wrong and you should take your vehicle to the dealership.

The owner's manual points out that the light should only light momentarily upon ignition, and that if it does not go out after a while of the engine being on while in park that it is and indication of a possible problem.

The light comes on based on throttle and speed. I just got home from a long cross country and I had a couple of times on a long uphill climb on the cruise control when the tranny downshifted to 5th and then 4th while trying to maintain speed. Once the speed stabilized, the light came back on even though I was running 70 mph, up hill, in 4th gear?? Surprised the heck out of me!

All it is is a tool to help you try to get a little better economy than you might otherwise get but I don't consider it the end all, be all of that. If you push the "Setup" button on the display, there's a selection in there somewhere (Vehicle I think but you'll just have to look for it?) that will allow you to turn the eco light off permanently if you'd rather not see it at all. I've tried driving in such a way that the light stays on most of the time but all that really ends up doing is pissing off everyone around me so I don't do that too much any more! ;)

Hold the "DISP" button on the steering wheel for about 10-15 seconds. You should see something along the lines of "Eco On" displayed in the instrument/gauge cluster, then use either the Up/Down arrows on the steering wheel or momentarily press the DISP button to toggle between Eco On and Eco Off. Then press and hold another 10-15 seconds to save the change.

This is a frequent scenario. The highway I drive has 3 lanes on each side of a divided highway. I usually drive in the left lane, and I am passing everyone in the lanes to my right because I am going about 8mph over the speed limit of 65mph. Now here comes someone who thinks that 8mph over isn't fast enough so they ride my tail. I would pull over into the middle lane, but the cars over there are going slower than I am, so why should I have to move over and slow down for Mr. Speedy when I was speeding already?

I've been driving the same way to work and home for the last 30 years, and have observed a lot in that time. If I do get over in the right lane, now the guy who was riding my butt just hangs back, not passing me, and now I'm coming up on the slower cars in the middle lane, but I can't get over in the fast lane BECAUSE THE IDIOT IS THERE. That has happened at least 5 times in the last 3 years.

So I just stay in the left lane, doing my 8mph over, and if they want to pass me, they will have to wait until the middle lane is clear, and pass me on the right.

I never noticed an ECO light on my Avvy or Ravvy guess I drive too fast :)

I totally know what your talking about. And 8mph over is fine, it's the idiots doing the exact speed limit and keep driving in the left lane like they own the road, they don't even bother to look in the mirror.

Ok Mr FIXIT you are the BOMB!!! So right this same thing has happen to me on the express way on long road trips. Cant stand those tailgaters who speed up blow horn or flash the lights only to pull one car ahead of you. Most of the time they are driving their eco cars too. Sometime you get the very big MR pickup driver any brand. LOL.

Yes light does go off at stop lights. And I did finally notice at least today that sometime I have a light foot on gas pedal. I think I drive not in a conservative way. But drive it differently than my car. I am very aware of not trying to tip over when going around corners. LOL

Hey LockDots,

Thanks for that, didn't know you could do it that way. Having said that, I was closer than close. I double checked the next time I was in the car and I had it right. On my 2013 XLE, push the "setup" button on the right side of the CD player slot, select "Vehicle" and the option for turning the eco light on or off is at the bottom of the list so it looks like there's more than one way to skin that particular cat! ;)

Very cool! I don't think my radio has that option (LE with stock Entune Audio)

My chief complaint about that little ECO light is that it is very bright and doesn't dim with the rest of the dash lights. This is a big deal for me because I do a lot of interstate driving at night and I turn all interior lights down to the minimum level for maximum visibility outside the cabin and along the shoulders of the road. (Deer are a major problem out here)

The ECO driving indicator lamp is particularly harsh. That little sucker is super bright and as mentioned above it seems to be on all nearly all the time. It is wired to the indicator (warning lights and blinkers) circuit so it doesn't dim when the dash lights are dimmed. For the first several weeks I blocked the ECO driving indicator lamp with my hand. Then, when I got a chance, I cracked open the OM and found out it could be completely disabled. Problem solved.

This worked for me. Just make sure the cluster Display is in the main Odometer mode when you hold the button down. In my 2013 XLE AWD the main radio screen does not offer the Eco selection under -- Setup -- Vehicle.

I agree! I also don't like that you can't turn all the interior lighting completely off for night driving. It's amazing how much more you can focus on the road at night when you don't have blue lights bombarding your peripheral in the cabin.
