Has anyone found a good cell phone mount solution for the Rav? I have a suction cup model which works well, except for when the suction cup randomly gives up and the phone flies somewhere it shouldn't around a corner. I don't want to drill into the dash. Does anyone know of any other options?

I'm currently using a Mounttek that fits in the CD slot.

Pros:
1) Makes use of the CD player (we have almost no CDs)
2) Securely grips phone
3) Easy to insert phone and remove with one hand.
4) Accepts charging cable.
5) Easy to remove

Cons:
1) Puts phone right in front of the air vent
2) arge screw at the bottom that obscuring screen
3) Permanently deforms foam in CD slot

Due to cons 1 & 2, I looking for another mount. The screw has interfered with the Nav and I don't like the idea of putting my phone in a hot vent. I'm leaning towards a mount that glues onto the dash.

n.b. I used to have this, but my wife hated it so much that she "lost" it. In all fairness, neither the suction nor magnet are quite strong enough, which frustrated the misses.

I would recommend you to try new product made by Bracketron. It's a universal dash-mat dash mount holding device. The great thing about it is that it is compatible with most gadgets. It is ideal for multi-car owners as it can easily 'travel' from vehicle to vehicle.

Please enjoy the photos and share your opinion about it.

Best mounts I've ever used. You buy 2 pieces. One to fit your phone (with integrated or non-integrated power)...and a custom base mount for your car. Usually there's 2 types of fixed mounts for each car model. They don't require drilling (although sometimes requires a temporary trim piece removal).

Use this for my Corolla for 3 years with iPhone. Best accessory I ever bought and have felt naked without it. I have it on good authority Santa's got one with my name on it for new iPhone ;)

And for those wondering about warranty - I had an issue outside my warranty period. They sent me a whole new mount and I sent them the old one. This is Apple kind of service!

Not sure if you've found a good cell phone mount but I use Steelie by Nite Ize. It's a little pricey but it's worth it. I like the fact that its minimal and not obstrusive.

I've had mine for 6 months and I still love it. I was worried about the magnet and how it will interfere with my phone components but I have never had a problem with it. I tried to do some research online for phone problems the magnet causes and haven't really found anything. Its been on the market for a few years now so if it is an issue, I'm sure it would have been addressed by now.

Here is a link to an ad just to give you an idea of what it looks like.

Thanks for posting that mount. I haven't seen that one before. I have a magnet-based CD slot mount which has been great, but on the Rav4 it blocks the display screen a bit so I like the idea of being able to place this mount anywhere. How well does the base part stick to the dash? I'd worry about this losing it's adhesiveness, especially in cold temps. Any experience with it?

Thanks,
Eric

Ericular, the magnet that attaches to the phone, (I attached mine to a case), isn't too bad. It won't be as thin as the one you have but its pretty tolerable.

There are a ton of review videos on youtube that you could watch through. I live in the chicagoland area and it has gotten pretty cold here - still no problems. The kit does come with a alcohol prep pad to clean off the surface that you will be placing it on. A buddy of mine had to remove his from his car cause he sold it and the removal process is pretty easy, leaves no residue.

The only thing you really have to be careful with is the placement of the magnet onto your phone/case. Just gotta make sure it is centered so that the weight is distributed evenly (depending on your case).

An added plus with the magnet on the phone case is that I can stick it on anything that is metal. So basically, anything metal becomes a mount.

Reviving this old thread to see if anybody has some new recommendations. I've been using a Wizgear magnetic vent clip mount for a bit, but don't like that my phone blocks the air vent. To make things worse, my Galaxy S7 is heavy enough that it pulls the entire vents down so the vent is virtually unusable.

Wizgear has a new flat stick-on magnetic mount, but I'm not sure where I can place this thing where the dashboard/console isn't curved.

Best phone & all mount for any car hands down. No magnet needed, no separate case needed, can be mounted on the dash or windshield. Holds heavy & large phones also & easy 1 touch mount. I pretty much tried most of the mount other members mentioned here above, but can't beat this one because it's a knock off of some legit brand that sells this same exact thing for like $85+. Here's the Link.
