I would like to get some A/T tires since my all seasons probably have 2 years left. Instead of buying new set of all seasons, and another new winter tire set, I would rather have A/T tires. Never had A/T tires before but are they comparable to dedicated snow/ice tires?

Tire rack says the BFG KO2 225/65/17 won't fir on my stock rim. The tires I have now are 225/65/17. Is this because the tread is much thicker than all seasons?

That makes no sense for Tire Rack to say they won't fit. They will fit just fine, but that specific BFG is a D rated tire; better designed for heavy load use. You can use it all day long though, without any issues, other than a potential impact to ride quality. In regards to dedicated snow/ice compared to ATs, finding a an AT rated for Snow would be a great place to start. I personally enjoy running a set of factory steel wheels with snow/ice tires during the winter months. That way I am prolonging the life of both sets of tires...:D

Thanks for the great info! I will probably get new all seasons, and new winter tires for next year. I don't think my wife would want a rough ride quality.

I like the look of Sparcos 16"/BFG K02 option. Too bad my RAVs a lease.

Has anyone here used this (or similar) setup before to comment on the ride quality? I would like to get this exact setup for my RAV, I know the wheels are 16" but does anyone know what the K02 tire size is?

The size on that tire looks to be 225/70-16. I had a similar size 16 if not the same. They rode good, but did not handle as well as the 17s.

The BFG ATs won't be as good as a dedicated winter on road, but they are snow rated and work quite well. If you go off road in snow, then they'll be better.

I just put a set of Falken Wildpeak AT3W on mine, granted i have a lift. I know people run the 245 tire on the 6.5" wheel, but i wouldn't. Go with a 235/70/17 and you will be just as happy, you will even gain some height from the taller tire, granted you will lose some power with that. As we all know those of us running over sized tires, something left to be desired in the RAV4 horse power rating. You could also run a 235/65/17. The size i run is a 245/65/17 on 17x8 wheels, and i have seen bigger. At the dealership in Ontario Oregon they sell them lifted with 245/70/17 tires. They are selling them with LP Kits.

Up to you but if i was gonna run oversized tires on a stock steal wheel i would run 235/70/17

Hey anyone that's interesting in putting on Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015, I have them on my 2013 RAV4 LE. I tried going a little wider than stock with 235/65/17, stick with this size if you want wider all-terrains but not a smaller clearance with the wheel well. I've never had these tires scrape or anything, everything is stock so I don't have spacers or anything. I am definitely looking to lift it for a more off-road look and because it's more practical for the pothole roads in New York City.

Running the same tire. Right at 100,000 miles on them and if I get through the winter okay, they should last till the following winter. I'm sold on them. No problems on snow or ice. No issues on national forest dirt roads. I can confirm that they fit fine without any spacers or rubbing.

Well I can definitely confirm that the Yokohama Geolander A/T G015 235/60R18 will fit a 2018 Rav4 Adventure without any lifts on stock 18 wheels with no rubbing.
awesome i have the exact same rav4 and looking to do the same upgrade. did u notice any changes on the riding experience ? did u do it to have more grip when going outdoors ?

Well, that idea is out the window. Won't last much longer. Toyota service advised me that I can get about 5-10k more miles out of them, then should replace.

I did notice a tiny bit of extra sluggishness on the freeway going with the bigger tires. The extra grip is noticeable specially when its raining. With the ecopia I sometimes experience slipping on wet pavement from getting off a stop light. With the new tires I have not yet seen that happen and its been raining here everyday. I was able to get up a snowy hill without any problems with the Geolandars. I got stuck on the same hill with the Ecopias. I go offroad sometimes when I need to get to a starting point when mountain biking was the main reason I got them. Originally I was going to get smaller wheels and new tires but when I found out this was going to fit I decided to go this route since it would be cheaper with just getting the tires. Also just a heads up if you want to wait... Falken is coming out with new A/T tires later this year specifically for the 2020 Rav4 TRD with specs that would fit our Rav4. If you want to check it out its called Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail

Do you think 235/65r18 would be too big for the limited rims?
If my memory serves me correctly, then the Outside Diameter of a typical 235/55R18 tire is 28.2 inches average...235/55R18 being the OEM for the Limited. A 235/65R18 tire may have an Outside Diameter of 30.2 inches average... an increase of 2 inches which would most likely require a lift, and possibly a spacer system. And the larger the tire, the greater the issue of added Weight. Yes, yes, there are differences in tire diameters and weights; I am just going by averages as I recall them.

An FYI for anyone reading : I now have the Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 on my 2015 Ltd. Size is 235/60R18 and I can discern no rubbing issues. I am glad to get back into my tire of choice as I appreciate the extra 'grip' from these A/T tires.
