I purchased a 2019 Rav 4 Adventure in February. In the last month + I have noticed a noise coming from what seems like the drivers side underneath my feet area. I happens at about 2500 rpms. It is a whining/grinding noise. It will also make a clunking noise when coming to a stop. It does not make this whining/grinding noise when i have my foot in the gas but it does it every time when at slow speeds like in traffic. I have a video I took where you can hear it. There is no real visual (just my speaker grill) but you can clearly hear these noises. I can email it to anyone who wants to hear it but I can not post it here. Any ideas what this is?

If you look in the 5th gen(2019>) forum, you'll see this is a problem experienced by many Adventure/Limited owners caused by the rear driveline disconnect, see the 4.5 Mechanical forum, there's also a related discussion for the TSB that's been issued in the 4.5 TSB forum.

I am also having same issue with my Adventure model purchased back in Jan 2019.
Grinding noise comes after driving 20-30 min when slowing down and during acceleration too. Asked same question with Toyota service but they are saying unless dashboard shows any issue you can ignore as it may be regular car noise. Not sure if this can be fixed, do you get any more information on this?

There is a service Bulletin
T-SB-0065-19 It came out on June 14, 2019

Do you have the actual pdf or copy of this tsb. I cannot find it anywhere. Thanks
See Transfer Case Warranty Repair in the TSB forum.

This doesn't apply to your FWD model.

New 2019 Rav4 fwd . In normal and eco mode, there is pronounced lugging on light load cruising between 20 mph and 40 mph which is occurring at around 1100 rpm. The engine groans ands moans and is louder with a little vibration. A possible fix would be to have the transmission in one lower gear to increase rpm slightly. Obviously sport mode kicks up the rpms and the problem goes away.I think the engineers have gone overboard with their fixation on gas mileage. Is anyone else having this ? Or noticing this?

So Guess what. I had the Service done according the the TSB. They had my car a week. They had to take my transmission apart to change some things and guess what..................................IT IS STILL MAKING THE NOISE!!!!! to say I am upset is an understatement. I will be calling the dealership on Tuesday. I did call Toyota Headquarters and also told them of the issue and got a case#. So we will see where it goes from here. My Rav has 6500 miles and was 41,000.00!!!!! I am more than disappointed

No surprise there, same for everyone else that's had the TSB done.

Well, your correct. I do have the buzz groan but no transfer case. Glad I bought the less frill LE for less money , otherwise would be a little more unhappy. That noise is the only thing that bothers me about the car. As time goes on it looks like most issues get resolved, in the meantime waiting for some kind of fix.

Mine too it’s back in the shop the buzzing happens not all the time but there is a loud clicking noise when you go from 40 mph to a stop. These cars should never been released. I won’t a new car this is a new car and they are making me wait again. But I called Toyota Corp and I have a case # please do that first and keep up the pressure.

I think I have the same issue. (My adventure is the same color as yours also). It is a squeaking noise definitely in the front, but mine I think is more towards the passenger side. I have less than 10k miles on mine. Could you email me the audio file? I am curious if it is the same noise. (mary_beths@hotmail.com)
Thanks!

We just bought a used 2019 Rav4 Adventure "certified" and although the noise didn't happen for a week, it now is happening. About 17,000 miles. Will call dealership tomorrow for the first time and see what they say... any new information to share from anyone? I will do the same.

Hi yes I am having that same issue. Is it possible to email me the video that you have so I can share it with the dealership locally. I’m hoping to get this situation rectified. Thanks so much!
The noise you're hearing is what is outlined in the attached TSB T-SB-0067-20. I had this done to mine since it was making the noise and all has been fine. The other attached TSB is for a clunk in the rear that isn't as common. This noise only occurs on the Limited and Adventure trims since they have a different AWD system. The TRD also has this AWD system but the issue was worked out before they released the TRD trim.

I would recommend bring both of these TSB's to your dealer and have them fix the problem. It's just wonderful driving and not blowing raspberries to the neighborhood. Yes, mine was load enough that my neighbor would react when I would slow through the threshold and "brrrrrrrrrak" goes the noise. It was embarrassing.

i am in the process of fightingwith my dealership to fix mine. I am having the groaning/buzzing and the “clunk”. I have a 2019 adventure. I have done my research and have both bulletins ready to take inthe morning.

Hi JFox562

Thanks so much for sharing the PDFs!! Glad that you have got them fixed. :)
Did the problems recur after you have got it fixed since? Your sharing is very much appreciated! 🙏🏻

Cheers!
