I am experiencing the following:
  • Intermittent delayed shift from 1st to 2nd gear runs fine in 3rd gear.
  • No 'check engine' light or 'code' identifying the problem. Had the transmission serviced.
Still experiencing the issue although intermittent.

Has anyone had this problem and if so, what was the fix for it. I cannot afford a new transmission,
ECM/ECU, transmission Solenoid at the time. HELP!

Thank you.

I have seen a site that reconditions the ECU/ECM in Van Nuys, CA. I hate to get picky here but that is 23 miles from my home. I don't know how to remove it or replace it to take it to them without transportation. I'm 75 years old and can't do these things any longer. I'm a mess! :cautious:

Do you have family or friends that help you to remove the ECU? If not ask a mechanic to remove it and see if you can leave your car there. Here is a Youtube video showing how to remove the ECU which is just behind the glove box if you happen to find a friend to help. Good luck and update your results.

I took my Toyota to an ECM repair place Module Repair Pro in Van Nuys, CA yesterday. It was 24 miles from my residence via freeway and after driving the side streets to the destination I was scared to death! My car was having severe issues shifting from first gear as it had a very long delay and when it came to the second gear I thought the entire transmission was going to fall out! However, I continued carefully. Once I arrive I told the man I spoke with on the phone at Module Repair Pro (Geno) what was happening. He said they would fix it. They removed the ECM and replaced it with a reconditioned one. After the replacement I started my car and the idle was quite shakey. Geno said, drive it for 15 to 20 minutes (not high speed) so the computer adjusts to my driving pattern. I did and all seemed okay. I drove it as stated (maybe a little longer) and then head home on the freeway. I made it and I pray all was fixed. I'm still hesitant and afraid to drive my car. Maybe this will pass also.
Thanks to all that tried to help me in my delema as it is genuinely appreciated.
God Bless stay well.
