I have decided to carry a tire inflator but am not sure about brand. Does anyone
carry one, and if so, how has it held up and would you buy it again? I don't have
a garage so a home compressor is not an option at this time.....

I have carried a tire inflator for many years, and they are so old that I doubt you could buy them now. I have never had any problem with them, and they still work today even though they are several decades old.

The off road crowd (Toyota 4Runners) usually carry an large air compressor, for they need to deflate tires with going on sand, and reinflate them when going back to the highway. ARB air compressors seem to be the brand of choice: On-Board Air Compressors These large air compressors need to be hardwired to the battery, for they need more current than is available in the 12 volt outlets (cigarette lighter).

Another option you may want to consider is an air tank (Amazon.com : air tanks portable). You can fill them up at your gas station. There are no moving parts to wear out and they keep the pressure for months. Yes, they do take up more space. I also have an air tank that I have had for years, again with no problem.

this machine ( Air compressor & jumper combination) .
No regret , very fast to add air in tires with digital set of psi.
Amazing for dead battery to start car.
I really love it ,and very light weight, easy to keep in car . I definitely recommend this product to anyone who drive: even you have a brand new car, you still need it in your car ; very useful.
I ‘m glad I have it.

I have found that all the small portable air compressors will do the job, but aren't nearly as good as a home unit. I would suggest getting two- one that uses the 12 Volt outlet and just stays in the car for emergencies, one that uses a 110 V home AC outlet that comes out when you need to add a little air to tires (such as from the normal loss in winter). The little "emergency use" inflators don't hold up well to lots of use but are very handy in an emergency.

dj04682,

I have thought about that but I am so spacey I'm afraid I would not keep the batteries charged.

The lithium ion batteries hold their charges a lot longer. If you can swing it, the 6.0ah batteries are great when paired with the inflator. I always shop the sales on the Milwaukee stuff. The inflator is probably my favorite m12 tool, mine has gotten a lot of use, and it’s great. I added a small hose from Amazon for about $10 that converts the end to a regular chuck instead of having to thread it on the valve stem. I have one of these, I purchased for my Tacoma: Smittybilt 2781 5.65 CFM Universal Air Compressor fits perfect behind my back seat in a double cab. Not sure where to put it in my RAV4 when needed.
