I installed one of those Android radios today. It was plug and play for the most part. Over the next couple days i'm going to test out the various features and will post findings.
Did a little research and constantly have no idea. I think you may have to install either Malay or Hal9k's mod to really fix this issueModel: A7
Processor Type: t3l
Android Version 9.1
it's not using the Carlinkit app? if that makes sense, i have the carlinkit usb box thing... carplay comes up really quick and what not, just have the radio station bleed through...![]()
I didn't even know something like this existed. I just love how the price on Amazon is from $30-$60 for the same exact item. Even the Carlink company has one for $40 and one for $60 and I can't find a difference other than the color of the dongle. I picked up the $40 black one because it is also 13% off right now. Can't wait to see how it works. I tried using the EasyConnection app previously and it was a PITA to get running properly and then it didn't connect reliably. Hopefully a dongle will be easier and more reliable. After purchasing the above, I would download the apk that is found in the description for the dongle here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08BR676VG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . If the app works, then you're all set to go. If it doesn't, you would have to find one that is compatible
Did you try uninstalling the radio app? I'm wondering how the radio app is still even working after a force close. That's odd.I recently installed an android unit (10 inch) into my 2018 XLE, I'm having issues with the radio app bleeding through to the carplay app, for instance when i try to use SIRI to find music it does not recognize anything, or use Siri to send a text, I end up with random words and stuff from the radio in my text. Also, if i disconnect bluetooth and run phone calls through carplay alone, the person on the other end cannot hear me but can hear the radio playing on their end... now before you tell me to force close the radio app itself, i've done this....... not sure where to go from here... i've googled the crap out of this and found nothing.
any ideas?
What extra attachments did you need to buy to get it working with all the OEM stuff? How much did it all come out to?Installed a Joying 10.1" Android 10 Head Unit (JY-TQ153N4G) in my 2015 Rav4. Saved over $30 buying on AliExpress versus the Joying website. Good communications and quick shipping. After reading this thread and watching a lot of YouTube videos, it went flawlessly. Gorgeous screen, with quick response time, all steering wheel controls, and built in Android Auto (and Carplay). The 5 GHz WiFi works great! I am pleasantly surprised at the sigificant improvement in the sound quality. That's a bonus!

I'd like to thank everyone on this forum for their contributions. I used the adapters mentioned in earlier posts to make use of the existing XM Antenna for GPS, and the signal is strong. I will not be using the Sim card option right now, so I ran the 4G antennas and Sim card reader into the glovebox. One tip I can contribute, bicycle tire levers work great to cleanly and easily pry off panels and vents. Also don't forget to salvage the yellow clips for use on the head unit.
Nice, got a link to the one you bought? Any idea if it will work find on hybrid model? I know a lot of guys with the hybrids have been reluctant to swap out radio due to losing the 'energy' information thats built into the OEM unit for hybrids.Everything was part of the package, including all harnesses and connectors, and a pre-wired and configured canbus module, that worked without adjustment on the steering wheel controls and provides car data to the screen. There is a winter sale at AliExpress, and the Rav4 package ran me $339, including fast and free DHL shipping from China. The only extras I bought were the adapters for the XM antenna, to avoid having to run the included GPS antenna, and an extension cable, based on where I chose to locate the external microphone.
You would just need to find a model that supports that. It's really just the canbus that draws that information to display, so you can ask the sellers on whatever site if they have one that supports the hybrid modelsNice, got a link to the one you bought? Hey misterkoll!Hi all. Not sure if it’s known or already in the thread, but this “Sygav” 10in px5 4gb ram headunit is really just a rebranded Dasaita (Hot-audio) unit! There’s a huge forum thread over at XDA for dasaita units including all the recent firmware updates and fixes.
I actually put together two YouTube videos for a unboxing and full installation in my 2017 RAV4. Hopefully they’ll help:
I’ll be making additional videos soon covering rooting the headunit on Android 8.0 as well as firmware updates!
It's the same way you would do it on any device. Select and long press, it will set the preset you want.I know people haven't posted in here in a few months...but I am just wondering if anybody is still here and can help me with the radio presets on my android HU...can't remember how to switch them...moved and need to input some new ones! Thanks...hope I hear back from someone.......
